What's In It For Me

Loving and giving unconditionally have become so rare
People have forgotten how to share
All they think is what's in it for me
What is it I will receive
And when someone loves and gives from the heart
Their motives get picked apart
Oh they can't be giving their kindness so freely
They have to be doing it selfishly
But they keep giving no matter what others think
Because love and kindness is their first instinct
