What You Don'T Feel

As much as I want to pursue, I know I must let this feeling subdue. I must put my own feelings aside. Even if it means my own heart is denied. In a moment of weakness I told you, That I could love you. But we both know this is not true. Because you would never feel the same. There is no one to blame. This is just how these things go. You and I both know. And I cannot blame you For what you do not feel. I cannot ask you to pretend that it is real. I cannot ask you to commit to What is not there. It just would not be fair. For love there must be At least the slightest of notion. And one cannot force an emotion. Here this none. And we must not pretend there is one. Sarah Comstock 1/20/2001
