What Will We Learn

Looking into the future how might it seem?
Will the hierarchy have become supreme?
Will bio warfare become the norm?
Mutations of viruses in all shapes and form.

Will government rule, with no liberty left?
Where one’s identity, might well be bereft?
Where everyone’s tracked, for their safety of course,
And the fear ensures a need to endorse.

Will China continue its exotic trade,
Leaving a threat that another virus might just invade?
Where control is complete meaning we’re kept in the dark
And reliance on welfare leaves a picture too stark!

Will the pharmaceuticals sit on their throne
With billions to fund epidemics unknown?
Where conglomerates are narrowed to just the few
Who take full control over me and you?

Will 2020 be the point in our past,
Where we knew our freedoms would never last?
Or will we learn that our existence is more
Than the worldly goods we’re desperate to store?

Will we free ourselves and learn the truth?
Admit our world had become rather uncouth
And it took an epidemic to see the light
That humanity on Earth need not be a blight!

That this pandemic we currently face
Was not the end of the human race
And people fought the tyranny of old
Thus, an Orwellian future did not take hold!

Hello Ronald … this is a great poem for thought. Will governments around the world take this as a further way to be able to control the masses, although at present I'm really pleased they are enforcing what they are here - thank you Ronald - Lindsay

Appreciate the comment. Let's hope that good comes from this virus. If one thing it has united us, it is giving us time to re-evaluate. Best wishes. Ron

Ron, this is the part I am concerned about right now more than ever as edicts are passed down by governors daily: "Will 2020 be the point in our past, Where we knew our freedoms would never last?" Well done! Well thought out.

so many questions and thoughts in this one my friend... all we can do is pray and hope for the best as we sit quarantined while an invisible beast silently takes life around us... stay safe my friend... hugs and blessings

Great question, Ron! We must be ever-vigilant not to let the 'brown-shirts' take over. You are so right! Best wishes, Gershon
