What Was, Was What Is, Is

Are you ready? Hold your breath, because I am about to explode and cause a torrential downpour, of emotions on you that you thought from someone, could never cause any harm Well that sweet, genuine, innocent, girl that you used to believe, she has the left the building and now you get to deal with me Same person, only a darker version you see, her heart was too fragile to take the beating that you brought down upon me So, she had to concoct a way to get through the sleepless nights, the tears being shed into her pillow over you leaving her behind So here I am, the version that you see, I am much stronger than that weak girl you once knew, that let you bring her to her knees Your beautiful words, your smile, won’t get you anywhere with me, so please won’t you sit down for a minute, and let the true master speak? See you thought you were in control, you believed you had the upper hand, but that was only with her, I’m not afraid to take a stand I’m not blinded by my love for you and false dreams that will never be, I live in reality, where I can see things oh so clearly I’m not afraid of losing you, of not having you in my life, see what would I really be losing here, a lot of pain and strife? Thoughts of someone who doesn’t love me, not in the way that I want them to, and dreaming that one day he will change his mind, that he is finally going to see the truth Well, I’m not naïve, and I’m not afraid to say all that I need to say, I don’t care if you don’t like it, it’s your turn to feel betrayed To feel like you’re not enough, to feel as though your world it’s so small, by the time I’m done with you, you won’t even be able to crawl There is no need to hash out differences and the righting’s and the wrongs, I have been here through it all my friend, I have seen the pain that you’ve caused Remember those patronizing words that you told her, and she tried to make them, to her make sense, well I get it so clearly and I have had enough of this You told her what was, was and what is, is well if that isn’t the truth my friend then I don’t know what is But let’s take it one step further, let’s define what you mean, oh I know, you’re a mistake that was made then and let be what was, be Am I right? Am I heading down the right train of thought? You didn’t think that I was so naïve that your lies, I would have bought Oh, I get it and eventually she will too, that you’re trying to cover up a mistake that you made back then, that is all coming back to haunt you You figure if you play nice and you tell her what she wants to hear, that she will slowly go away and then you will have nothing to fear But she held the upper hand and she brought with her a surprise that was me, and I’m not afraid to lock you up and throw away the key All the hurt, the despair, the breaking of her heart, all because you were confused and broken and tortured by your own scars Well, she was innocent, all that she wanted was for you to mean the lies that you once told, well she is no longer out there in the world experiencing the cold She now has me, and I am her voice, her dignity, her strength, she won’t be hurt again by someone that can so easily be so mean I know you’re happy now, your world is content, because you have told her repeatedly how your love is so meant Well, I am her and I have a few words of my own to say, you’re right what was, was and I used to be thankful for those days But now as I look back there was only more suffering and pain than happiness back then, and what is, is and because of you she is so much better off now, she finally sees it You were telling her that you’re over the past and that you have moved on as should she, well my friend that is what she is doing, and I thank God for this, finally You have stated that the present is great, and things couldn’t be brighter on your end, well the past will come back to haunt you, what was, will be, what is, again.
