What Was Given

You told me that you cared but you haven’t left me much to show
I did my best to tell you everything I wanted you to know
I’m not mad at you; I really don’t hold any grudge
But where our names were written together, now there is only a smudge

My caring for you has not ceased to exist
But through my broken heart I have no choice but to persist
You taught yet another lesson to add to my collection
When I think of you, it will simply be a fond recollection

No bitterness will reside in me, we simply weren’t meant to be
As simple as it was, thank you for what you did give to me

I love it. I feel like you captured what I was feeling and wrote it for me when I could not. Keep writing
