What Was

It didn’t take much for me to discover,
that the man laying next to me is no longer my lover,
for we have become strangers on this road called life,
once we were friends, now I m just his wife,
destined to spend my days thinking,
while our relationship is slowly sinking,
 deeper into the abyss,
I should have known something was amiss,
 when he stopped talking,
 and started walking,
 out all alone,
his heart has turned to stone,
 where there once was compassion,
there is nothing more than distraction.
We never meet and walk together,
our bond is held only by a tether,
of rope that soon will break and fade away,
then there will be no more reason fore me to stay...
