what tender things become
poem 1 - luca and lilyanna
a hush in the hall,
my heart starts to call.
brown eyes, a gleam,
like a half-forgotten dream.
each doorway i face,
a hopeful quick pace.
will he be there then ?
to smile once again.
brown eyes so deep,
all the secrets they keep.
a teenage love, true,
just me and you.
luca and lilyanna too,
names whispered soft, new.
a future we see,
brown eyes looking at me.
poem 2 - fading away
shattered glass, a broken vow,
luca, lilyanna, just a dream now.
empty cribs, where laughter slept,
a promise broken, a secret kept.
my fault, perhaps, i aimed too high,
chasing stars across the sky.
he’ll be my focus, my sun, my all,
i’ll catch him if he begins to fall.
school doesnt matter, degrees can wait,
just him beside me, sealing my fate.
please come back, my sweet, sweet boy,
lets find our laughter, rediscover our love and joy.
remember that night, the stars were so bright ?
when your first “i love you” felt so warm and right.
i’m sorry with all my might,
i want it back, with all it’s light.
i pray and beg, but silence remains,
a heavy echo of heartaches and pains.
hes not coming back, no matter my pleas,
just shattered hopes and dreams.
