What She Wants

To be held
(For she’s easily broken)
To be heard
(Without words clearly spoken)
To be liked
(By all of the world)
To be praised
(Like a little girl)
To be seen
(Not so easily missed)
Appreciated
(For all that she is)
To be trusted
(Without a doubt)
To be understood
(Inside and out)
To be happy
(And pressure-free)
To reach dreams
(Of what she wants to be)
To be loved
(By the one she adores)
To be touched
(Like never before)
To be herself
(Not society’s ideal
Of the perfect woman
Who doesn’t seem real)

To be respected,
(One man’s queen)
To be content
(Not a monster of green)
To be thought of
(For no reason at all)
To have someone to lean on
(In case she should fall)
To have one person
(To kiss goodnight)
To be strong enough
To stand up for what’s right
To be independent
(Rely on herself)
To have great friends
(For when she needs help)
To cry when she needs to
(Just because)
To laugh at herself,
To fall in love.
To learn from mistakes
(Forget the past)
To live from the memories
(That she always has)
To be her best,
To always come through,
To impress the world
And to please you.
