What Might Be
A Seniors Prayer

O Lord,
as I go forth to make my place in life
hand in hand, I'll walk with you,
avoiding daily strife.
The path You choose for me,
therein I'll walk.
Not as the world might act
or as the world might talk.

While peering through life's haze
that sin has wrought.
I see Children's starving faces
and wars that are being fought.
At times, from fear and pity, I've thoughts,
what's left for me?
Has my generation inherited a world
that can no longer be?

Lord, let not my heart be troubled
over Earthly things as Y-2K.
But continue to place my trust in you
to make for me a way.
Accepting the fact
that this world is only a temporary place.
A "means to an end",
when I'll behold your face.

I'll ask no more
than to walk with you each day.
While attempting to better others  lives
met along Your chosen way.
Just touch my heart Lord,
that Your chosen field I'll see.
For future generations of seniors
depend now on You and me.

I'll strive to be Your difference maker
in the things I say and do.
Then through a humble spirit,
give praise and thanks to you.
When numbered days on Earth are spent
let me leave life without fear.
Leaving the world a better place,
because of my presence here.
