What Makes a Good Poem

What makes a good poem?
Is it something original, something all of our own?
A feeling, a word, a sight or sound, perhaps something we have seen around.
Is it a meaning we want to convey?
Perhaps to that special someone but are too scared to say.
Is it something that will bring humour to our boring lives?
Perhaps it could be a saying that will make us all feel alive.
Whatever the reason it’s written straight from the heart,
This is where all good poems should start.
