What Love Is

So, you want to know what love is my son
Well, of course, it happens with just that one
Who has the chemistry the same as you
And has that look that says come here, please do
Now love ain't like Hollywood says it is,
No sir, they save that stuff for just show biz
They make it all so gentle and so sweet _
A smile here, a wink there, a little heat -
Mostly they make love a little inane
Well, it ain't, my boy, love's a hurricane
It rattles your brain and churns your gizzard
And it makes you wish for some calm blizzard
You won't know up from down or calm from storm
You'll burn with fever or you can't get warm
You'll wish it was done but can't wait for more
You'll stare at her face 'til your eyes get sore -
Most of the time she'll have you in a tizz
Yes sir, it's wonderful - that's what love is

I'll be hog tied and darn right dumbfounded if this here isn't one great, moving, country song worthy write! I adore it and I could actually hear the tone and timber of a wise man's voice delivering each line. Maybe too many movies? I think not, the writing style brought the voice to life. The words and phrasing are perfect. Just wonderful, Larry ... CayCay

That's probably the best compliment I've ever gotten, CayCay! I will treasure it!!..My daddy was an old country philosopher and he talked like that. One day he said,"Son do you know about the birds and bees?"I said, "No sir". He said,"Well do you know about sex betwen men and women?"I said,"Yes sir".He said,"Well, the birds and bees is pretty much the same thing."

Larry you did well on your poetry I enjoyed reading your poem. I thought that a couplet was only two lines.I did not know that it could be longer.

Hey, there - I'm intruding, I mean helping: Couplet is a pair of lines that rhyme and a poem can include many couplets providing each is a rhyming pair; they can be spaced by couplets or grouped ... CayCay (FORMS - VERY TOP RIGHT, explains all forms, I know because I have to visit them often and frequently)

Thank you...I hope I haven't misused "couplet", but I don't think so.I see many poems labeled as such that string together a series of couplets for one continuous thought....Larry
