What Keeps Me Going

The world has been dark And filled with strife. All I want Is a happy life. The life before all That has been going on But the spiral continues And I must live on. So what brings me joy In this weary new world? What keeps me going When hope is unfurled? My family keeps me going. We are united and strong Though politically different Our bond is lifelong. My teacher friends keep me going Each other we cheer. Mask on, mask off Let’s go for a beer! My students keep me going They have lived a strange life In this world of uncertainty, Trouble and strife. My faith keeps me going? I wish to say yes But my faith is waning With every new stress Brought on by this world Of disease, war, and strife. I’ll try to stay strong And love this strange life.

A beer sounds great, my friend! The world is strange. One of my students was caught stealing food today, and we provide free breakfast and lunch. It's a sad commentary on the world today. Thank you for commenting on my poems!
