What It Is
I visit you at night in my dreams
from the way we were to the way we are now
never wanting to let any of it go
but it is what it is
My thoughts continue to have you there
knowing how it was will never be
doesn't stop the wanting of you
but it is what it is
I deal with the treatment that you give
saying little along the way
leaving you to your own ideas
but it is what it is
You have no concerns as to how I feel
yet benefit from those feelings
still I continue to be who I am
but it is what it is
I know you see me, what I hold
but I am not as important to you
inspite of the purpose that I serve
but it is what it is
You call upon me and I answer
no matter what the reason or time
you close you eyes to my life
as I now close my eyes to yours.
