What if, dogs could talk
If dogs could talk, what would they say
they might thank you for your love, each and every day
they would tell you each wag, was simply a smile
but they could only stay, for a short little while
you will have my loyalty and all I can give
my life will be short, so let’s learn how to live
with you I will run, with you I will play
you will be my world and I’ll cherish each day
I will give you my heart and always watch your back
I will trust you completely, you are part of my pack
when the day finally comes and I’ve caused you to cry
just know that I’m sorry, I didn’t want to die
don’t leave my chair empty, or my spot by your feet
please bring home a puppy to take over my seat
remember my love, each time you two walk
those would be my last words, if only I could talk
