What If
What if I Hadn’t helped her out?
I’d still have my job now.
One mistake is all it takes,
to have it all taking away.
His bed was in the high position,
when he decided to jump out.
I thought she had reported the fall.
He said he was fine and nothing hurt.
We got him up off the floor,
went about our normal chores.
He started to complain of hip pain.
Looking back on it now, I wish I would have opened my mouth.
She went home and called it good, while I was left to clean up the mess.
With no more options and out of time,
I had to tell them that he fell.
By then it was too late and he’d been lying in pain.
They shipped him out for an x-ray,
But when the results were back,
I was sent packing my bags.
Learned a huge lesson that day
Never believe what others say.
Following your heart, is the only way.
