What If
What if our friendship grew to be more,
What if your heart could have opened the door,
That my heart has kept locked for all of these years,
To stop me from falling and shedding anymore tears,
I once had the chance when we were both free,
But doubted that you could ever see me,
The way I saw you so honest and true,
Maybe with the same feelings I felt for you,
But then everything changed we went back to getting hurt,
By the ones we thought we loved who only made our hearts feel worse,
Convincing ourselves to give it a few more days,
To try to give our lovers a chance to change their ways,
But the thought still crosses through my mind,
What if a love between us could have lasted for all time,
What if our hearts were made for each other,
What if it was you for me and no other,
Guess we will never know why,
We never gave you and I being lovers a try.
