What I Gave

When my time comes and I go to my grave
One legacy I choose to leave behind
Let it be said that humor’s what I gave
For laughter’s the best way to soothe a mind

When someone is down, offer compassion
But you can take kindness just one step more
Bring smiles bountiful, no need to ration
May they grace faces of all you care for

I have no wealth or talent of great note
But it lifts spirits when people can laugh
Far too many folks on sadness will dote
Let “giggler” be scribed on my epitaph

Carolyn, perhaps we should conspire as i have a firm believe that "skipping" should be a mandatory class as I don't think it is possible to "skip" and not "giggle". Very nice, congrats on the win and keep laughing and provoking laughter.

Don't go pushin' up daisies any time soon there girl! Although I disagree with much of the last stanza of this piece, I do feel it is solid and heartfelt. To me, you have plenty of talent and wealth. Atlantis remembers as well! You have been one hell of a mentor to me. NEVER forget that, please! Keep on shinin' you crazy diamond! Much love and respect through the Cosmos, JoEy 7up from me.

I just LOVE this, Carolyn. I kept thinking and thinking what the heck I could write about, and here you are doing something that I should have chosen because I too like to make people laugh. Anyway, I hope I can come up with something else. I could not hold a candle to this one the way you described your gift of laughter.

I subscribe wholeheartedly to this Carolyn i try to bring humour into the majority of my poems and into life - a smile and a friendly word cost nothing but they can make someone's day. hugs as ever Jan xxx
