What Have I done

I ask myself, what have I done?
To be the only lonely one.
Is it the way I talk or dress?
Or is it simply my distress?

I long for someone to share my heart,
To be a friend and never part.
Someone who sees beyond my fears,
And wipes away my lonely tears.

Until that day, I'll stand alone,
My heart aching to be known.
But I believe that one day I'll find,
A true friend who will be kind.

For though the world may seem so cold,
The warmth of friendship can never grow old.
And I know that I will someday see,
The joy of friendship meant for me.
