What Goes On Behind Closed Doors

There's a bridge and a match where she's standing
There's an empty nail on the wall
Where once hung love, there's just now memories of
A love that he no longer knows

Behind the walls lie a heartache
The constant doubt and the shame
When the windows are closed, only God knows
The truth, of the pain and the blame

The beer and the liquor poured freely
Helping fuel the bridge as it burned
Though questions remain, she ended the game
Now he's losing at every turn

What goes on behind closed doors
Allows few to truly see inside
With his body abused, and his past the excuse
It all left him wondering why

The floors where he walks carry burden
But his pace is nearing the end
Though hell's what he's lived, he's hoping Heaven will give
Him a home, where he won't have to pretend

The beer and the liquor poured freely
Helping fuel the bridge as it burned
Though questions remain, she ended the game
Now he's past, the point of return

The skeletons in his closet
Are where all his demons reside
Just a simple man, who lived and died by his hand
Pouring death, destruction, and lies

The beer and the liquor poured freely....
