What Does It Mean

WHAT DOES IT MEAN? A poem by Ellen Gwaltney Bales I’ve put the past behind me They say that’s where it belongs Then why does it keep trying to find me When I’m trying to right all my wrongs? Why can’t the past just stay buried? The guilty can go live their lives If they want they can even get married May the pain of their sins stab like knives I want no part of their drama Just leave me alone; leave me in peace It has caused me quite enough trauma God help me, I want it to cease I have grown so tired of that scene Will it ever end? Will I never mend? What does it mean?
