What Do You Celebrate

As you are gathering with your families: As you laugh and sing; Watching fireworks displays; Are you remembering? You celebrate a birthday, one free from tyranny; My people have a birthday as well today. It is to remember the beginning of death and slavery. You became masters of; The very things you escaped. Religious persecutions; Theft, death, and rape. You place your hand to your heart; And pledge love and loyalty. Ignoring all the deaths you cause; And proclaiming you are free. Terrorism and genocide; Extermination of children. If this is the price of your liberty; You are not really free. Shove food into your face; While you starve another race. Upon the money that you worship; You write in God we trust. And eager to create more wars; To satisfy your lust. Land of the free; Home of bravery. Today what you celebrate; Is death and slavery.
