What Comes After

We all have someone to share our lives with
Someone to witness us
Our true selves
All of our grit,
Our love
Our tragedy and despair,
Our generosity,
Our hate
It may be your husband
It may be your best friend
It may be your wife
It may be your brother
It may be your sister
But what becomes of us when lose that one person?
Do we still exist?
Or do we become something else,
unrecognizable to ourselves?
I say for awhile yes.
But in despair we all come full circle,
And hopefully see ourselves from the backside.
With honesty and hope.
