What Causes Love

What causes one to fall in love;
   perhaps it’s caused by moon above,
         or gentle breezes giving shove;
      what causes one to fall in love?

What causes soft and gentle sighs;
   perhaps the beauty in her eyes,
         or just some dream that we surmise;
      what causes soft and gentle sighs?

What causes hearts to beat so fast;
   perhaps her scent as she walks past,
         or just the die of fate as cast;
      what causes hearts to beat so fast?

What causes passions to ignite;
   perhaps the calmness of the night,
         or just the need of love’s delight;
      what causes passions to ignite?

What causes one to fall in love;
   I ponder deeply thoughts thereof;
        perhaps it’s merely life’s behove
     that causes one to fall in love.

A magnetic force or an igniting spark can cause each to unite. Your delightful poem is a never ending question, John!

People would probably pay money to learn the answer to your question, John. I think all of the things you mention -- the scent, physical beauty and the romantic feelings we experience in moonlight -- are factors. Love the rhyme and rhythm of this excellent poem, John! Best wishes, Carolyn

Your thoughts caress the page with elegance and grace. With how you repeat in each stanza. This is beautiful in so many amazing ways my dear friend. Because.. Not knowing the answer, makes Falling in Love even more Powerful. My best to you. ~ Brandy

There are so many things that can ignite that spark John and then it gathers momentum like a runaway train. A wonderful feeling though. Hope you're well. Tom
