Notes About The Poem

This poem is a collaborative effort.  My gracious, wonderful collaborator is Robertina B.  She provided the inspiration for this poem with the haunting line (below) from her poem "Deathbed," previously posted on her site:

...not the death, but the dying...

What Awaits Us

The Anticipation is worse
Than the thing itself:
'Tis the fear, not the flying--
'Tis not the death, but the dying.
