We'Re Not Getting Any Younger

You can go or you can stay, it's entirely up to you She said laying all her cards upon the table Call me later when you figure what it is you want to do Close the gate or let the horse out of the stable.  I kind of figured out I was ruining short on time When she asked about my dreams and aspirations I was very happy, thought that we were doing fine But then future plans ruled every conversation So I made a made a mental list of what I wanted from my life I even hunted down a pencil and some paper What I needed did not stray beyond some children and a wife What I wanted used up all of the eraser.  So I called her on the phone and asked her if she was alone And did she want to hear what i was thinking   I said it's time I settled down, took a wife and build a home And before you ask me no I ain't been drinking.
