Welcome, My Child

Oh dear child,
Cry not, though darkness falls upon you
As I too know the fear that you now feel
It will come to an end, of this I promise
For one day soon, your wounds will heal

Oh dear child,
Though explosions boom outside your window
Scary sounds that just make you shriek
It’s just the sounds of men who want more
Truth be known, they’re very weak

Oh dear child,
Please close your eyes and let me hold you
Feel the embrace of love that now surrounds
I felt you scared and alone in darkness
You’re here with me now, in the clouds
