Weak Spots Xxvi

There is nothing more to me
Tragic, yet romantic
About false hope—
An inkling of connection

Rattled from reality—
Those green eyes dimming
From memory,
Fading at once—years of pining

Unrequited tears—too long,
Hauntings of possibility,
Love waning and another growing,
But the moon still shines

Pictures of their face on a screen—
Smiles exchanged ever long ago,
Imagining them now—
Wholly without you

And for some reason, their
Absence is the most beautiful thing
