We See What We Want To See
Submerged in the vast sea of surging crowd
I see a verdant island form within lonesome me
Slicing the sound stratum of cacophony loud
Detached from the anchorage I make me free.
In the pristine pasture of emerald thicket I wander
As the sunburst sky serenades on the still canopy
On the leaves golden rays flash patina of splendor
In the sanctum of silence I float on waves of ecstasy.
In the beguiling breeze the bending boughs sway
Making the magical motifs of kaleidoscopic show
For me the tapestry of euphoria the foliage displays
How long it will be with me or mine I don’t know.
From the cradle of calm copse I’ve a long way to go
Trudging forlorn life across fragile landscape fallow
The grandeur of green in my mind I strive to stow
Create in serene soul a stretch of mesmeric meadow.
As in the twilight hour I walk the last mile weary
I see into the woods my faint footprints take me.
