We Remember the Heroes

So many soldiers have died in wars so our flag can continue to fly
Died defending our freedom…on the land, on the seas…in the sky

Some of them died with their colleagues…
some of them perished alone…
but all who died defending our freedom
share an honor all their own.

Those who remember them tell stories of their spirit…
their strength
and their sacrifice.
stories passed down through generations…
as they dwell in paradise.

Stories of war and freedom.
Stories of a world torn apart.
And their memories fall like raindrops to soothe our aching hearts.

Today we salute our fallen heroes…
We remember how they were bold and innocent and brave
as we lay bouquets of flowers
by the headstones on their graves.

And we shall go on remembering those who fought…
those who we’ve loved and lost…
for we must never forget what they died for…
we must never forget the cost.

Remembering them today is a way to honor them
a small way to repay our debt
to let them know what their sacrifice meant to us
to let them know…we shall never forget.
