Notes About The Poem

I thought of the title and did not have a clue as to where it would lead me. This is where it led. Hope you enjoy.

We Peer Into the Chasm

We Peer Into the Chasm
By Franklin Price

We peer into the chasm
It's dank and dark and deep
Could be the start of dreaming
In our longest hour of sleep

Images of life long lived
Most recent of the day
A glimpse into the future
For which we have the most to say

As we peer into the chasm
A pinpoint of light we see
It becomes a little larger
As we face reality

Could be a race to reach the light
There are better things to do
Enjoy ones who are there with us
Try on that other shoe

Don't be in a hurry
Enjoy the race to run
Doors there to open in the sides
Before we reach the sun

For the chasm is a tunnel
And the light is at the end
Run the race with smiling face
And enjoy your life my friend
