We None of Us Are Angels Here

We none of us are angels here
Though some of us pretend we are
We wait for karma to appear

When driven by our lust and fear
How far will we go, Lord, how far
We none of us are angels here

The pen the sword, the quill the spear
The battleground the bed or bar
We wait for karma to appear

And there - the burning in the ear
The feather fallen in the tar
We none of us are angels here

How bitter that last drop of beer
And pointy fingered last Haha!
We wait for karma to appear

How near is heaven now, how near
As near as is the furthest star
We none of us are angels here
We wait for karma to appear
