We Have Only Just Begun To Understand
I don’t understand
Why you had me coming undone
Please take my helping hand
Why is our battles left unwon?
We have only just begun
To understand where we stood
To understand we did some good
But…still don’t understand
I don’t understand
I don’t understand where our airplanes of thought land
I don’t understand why our hearts ache oh so immensely
I want to comprehend the true meaning of life at hand
I want to mend your broken heart like the ocean so free,
Crashing against beach sand
I wish you would clearly understand…
Where I stand…
Where I stand
Please understand…
(Understand, understand, understand)
I don’t understand you
You don’t understand me
You’re the moon and I the sun
I’m the sand of yellow and blue
You are the sparkling sea
You don’t understand me
We have only just begun
To understand where we stood
To understand we did some good
But…still don’t understand
I don’t understand
I don’t understand where our airplanes of thought land
I don’t understand why our hearts ache oh so immensely
I want to comprehend the true meaning of life at hand
I want to mend your broken heart like the ocean so free,
Crashing against beach sand
I wish you would clearly understand…
Where I stand…
Where I stand
Please understand…
(Understand, understand, understand)
We have only just begun to understand…understand…understand…
Where we land, where we land,
We land in God’s promiseland
We land in His helping hand…
To understand where we stood
To understand we did some good
But…still don’t understand
I don’t understand
I don’t understand
Where our airplanes of thought land
We have only just begun
To understand each other…
We have only just begun
To understand for the better…
Where our airplanes of heart land
Give me your hand…
—Dedicated to the lyrics to Birdy’s song entitled “Raincatchers” and The Carpenter’s song entitled “We’ve Only Just Begun”…
