We Can'T Expect
We can’t expect that things will be
Like they were long ago,
When what we thought would happen
Was the way we’d come to know.
For life has changed and norms today
Are not what they once were,
So sometimes disappointments,
Based on old times, will occur.
We have to suck it up or else
Be faced with feeling hurt,
Comparing now with days to which
We never can revert.
