The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

We Can Still Be Friends

When my eyes met yours
 And yours met mine,
 I thought from then
 Things would work out fine.

 My hand in yours
 And yours in mine,
 I didn't think we'd ever
 Run out of time.

 But I forgot
 That life does change,
 And the thought of you
 Slowly faded out of range.

 I hope...
 With all my heart,
 That my loss of love
 Didn't tear you apart.

 This is true
 It hurt me so,
 To have loved you
 Then let you go.

 If your broken heart
 Does mend.
 I want you to know,
 We can still be friends.

This the very first poem I wrote, about 36 years ago!

It stands the test of time. I think it's great to hang onto an oldie!
