We Are Africans
We are Africans
we are dancing people
we know the steps of every dance across the
globe
we follow the beat as it dictates the pace
The foreigners see us and burst into scoff
but we know it is only the sad and souless that
resist the sounds of the beat.
we dance in the sanctuary
Eledumare bequeaths us with long life
We dance in the market
"aje" makes our wares abode
We dance in our home
disasters distance themselves from us.
o
We are Africans
we are singing people
we know the song for every moment
we sing from the depth of our hearts
the foreigners call us noising
but we know and revel in the joy that only singing
could bring.
we sing in the noon
the sky bless us with the rain
we sing in the dark
the moon lights up our way
we sing in our journey
safely we reach our destination
