Way Back When I Was Ten

I remember way back when

I was nine and you were ten

Had a crush on you since then

And as I grew I loved you more

My handsome boy who lived next door

You took me to my very first dance

And all the girls gave you a glance

We started dating me and you

So much in love were we two

One day you heard your country call

My Marine so handsome and so tall

They sent you off to Vietnam

Lord keep him safe from harm

You lost your life to keep us free

Now no more you no more we

I have grown old never loved again

Loved only you since I was ten
