Watching You Sleep

I lay here in this warm bed,
pillows tossed about,
with your head on my shoulder,
I watch you sleep.
Your breath comes with ease,
snoring gently,
your expression, at peace,
your warmth eases my chill.

I watch you dream
and I wonder,
am I in them?

I know, with you at my side
I can do anything.
I can conquer my fears,
seek out my own dreams,
and be the person
who I am,
without regrets.

When the nightmares
awaken you suddenly,
I want you to know,
I will always be there,
by your side,
to chase away the demons.
