Watching Her Taillights

-~~-

He stood on the corner
as she drove on by
Watching her taillights,
a tear in his eye

Feeling the sadness
that grew in his heart
But knew it was best
that they now were apart

For she never loved him,
it all was pretend
Just needed to know
she could be loved again

He turns now to watch
as she fades from this place
Watching her taillights,
a smile on his face

Hi Chris, This poem is well written and sad. Sometimes parting ways is for the best. I didn't expect the smile at end. It symbolized that he would be ok. As always, great job my friend. Have a great day:-) Alexis

A win-win poem, my friend. Unusual, too, in that 'normally,' the driver's need to be loved again, once satiated, would have destroyed the innocent victim. But he got it. Good for him. A mature write. Poetry blessings, Gershon
