Wasted Pearls

We are born into this world although we did not ask
our love—our care— someone else's task...

If we are not nurtured and prepared for this world
then all that is left are— wasted pearls...

Until we thirst for knowledge of betterment and graduate
from the hard knocks college of life...

Through perseverance— we'll come to recognize that we are,
precious pearls...

Thanks for the welcome Susan... I stopped by to check out some of your poems and you have quite a collection .... I read a few and will go back to read more.... I enjoyed all that I read; and especially liked, "Dance in the Rain" ....
