Wars of the World

am i just another man
to have taken your soul
in my rough and untrained hands
and crushed what is so delicate?

am i just another thread
in a spider's web of dreams
so to snare a butterfly
for the gods so infinite?

do you still remember me
or think of me as i do you
are you confused and hurt and more
by the merciless pain of love and hate?

my silent tears of tenderness
they fall for true love lost
in the wars of the world
ah! teaching cruel and insensate

strange roads lead to secret places
where our souls are manna fed
where lies love and light eternal
there i rest my weary head

perhaps you too have realised
the burning pain does not depart
but dwells deep with pleasure
inside a loving heart
