War Song

Don't want to fight anymore
On thankless foreign shore,
Lay down with dogs of war,
Don't want to fight anymore.

Don't want to kill no one
Beneath the noonday sun,
With bayonet and gun,
Don't want to kill no one.

Don't want to feel the heat
Of glory or defeat,
Put fire to fields of wheat,
Don't want to feel the heat.

Don't want to hold the night
In place of peace or light,
The trade of wrong for right,
Don't want to hold the night.

Don't want to realise
The battlefield demise
Of pennies on the eyes,
Don't want to realise.

Don't want to end my days
Within the blood lust haze
Of empty violent ways,
Don't want to end my days.

Don't want to fight anymore
To even up the score
In someone else's war,
Don't want to fight anymore.
