War Crime

Echoes of bullets and old bombs invade, So long forgotten by those on parade. Their hopes and dreams lie shattered, caked in blood, Unsung, our heroes left to die in mud. Old news repeats another love has gone, And somehow the family must carry on. His staring eyes never saw his child grow, The hell inside is all his heart can know. This, the gratitude of his homeland, And here he dies with none to hold his hand! In memory of the souls, friends and unknown, lost to the Falklands War 1982 Form: Sonnetina Due
