War

When the final battle

Is finally won or lost

Can we count the casualties

And the unseen human cost

The loss of lives and dignity

To soldiers and their kin

And the realization was

Did anybody win

Soldiers led to believe

They’re protecting, their country,

Flag, and home

Sacrificing life and limb

While politician’s drone

I’d like to see

These men of words

Put on the forward lines

But I suspect if they

Were offered this

They surely would decline

War they say, is good for nothing

And I think most would agree

Except for those, without a soul

And who profit from misery

True war is evil and soldiers pay the price.
