Wannta Be Felon

He was a wannta-be felon in kindergarten
Because he knew no better ways to get attention
Hitting and kicking is how he got attention at home.

The teacher spoke to his parents, but they did not see a problem.
Their child was only lashing out “because he was bored”
So, it was the teacher’s fault, and her problem.

The other kindergarten mommies were horrified.
They did not want to send their children to school now.
Their children were bruised and battered and did not like it.

In third grade, he was sent to an alternative school
Where he learned more horrible ways to bully.
His parents were furious. They sued the school system but lost.

Today he is being incarcerated for the rest of his life.
He got his father’s attention by murdering his mother.
His father is putting in appeals, claiming it is a neighbor’s fault.

Unfortunately, this is too often the case. How many tragedies could be averted, IMHO, if parents would listen to a child's teachers. After all, the teachers observe the child more closely every day than the parents do.

I wish parents would allow their children to be responsible for their own actions.
