Wally Gator

Wally Gator at Royalty Court A new friend we’ve met, a neighbor of sort Climbed up from the pond to sun on the lawn Neighbors are nice but the line has been drawn He can rest on the bank; get a tan should he choose Pose for some pictures; be a poet’s new muse But he can’t cross the line that we’ve drawn in the sand Or come up in the yard; at least that is the plan But you’re welcome to come by and see Wally Gator Just not as a swimmer or even a wader But you best get your view from a far distant post Never three feet – you might not live to boast When he’s not in sight we’ve just got a hunch He is lurking nearby just hopping for lunch
