Walls of Glass
As I sit in my sunroom,
I watch the squirrels climb the trees.
And smoke my cigarettes,
As I please.
I hear my parakeets,
Chirp away.
And ponder my issues,
As I pray...
Dear God,
Why have you forsaken me?
I'm interrupted by dogs barking,
Which I cannot see.
The community has branded me,
A broken man.
My only friends are oak and holly trees,
Which I watch them stand.
The smoke gently...
Fills the room.
Have I a future,
Or am I doom?
I see fallen branches,
And freshly cut grass.
Though my mind is filled,
With societies wrath.
Can Jesus come,
And save my soul?
Or am I alone,
With all I know?
I now pace around,
As I hear and feel the cars.
Dogs barking again,
Both near and far.
In life all I wanted,
Was a hug.
My bare feet are cold,
There is no rug.
The universe and time,
Are moving fast.
While I'm trapped here,
In these walls of glass.
