Walls

Layer by layer I've built these walls,
some are large and some are small.
They're built of hurt and anger too,
so thick are these, I can't break through.
These walls were started long ago,
the results of which have got to show.
You touch my hand...I pull away.
You ask me why...I can not say.
You stand too close...I step away,
I want to leave...yet choose to stay.
I try so hard...yet can't explain,
I only have myself to blame.
Your love for me is like a fire,
that fills my heart with such desire.
The walls are cracking, one by one,
now enters in some rays of sun.
So if your love in time holds true,
I can begin again...with all things new.

Walls...how necessary sometimes but so life altering at other times. You have amazing insight into the human heart! You are truly a gifted writer.
