Walk a Mile In Her Shoes

I tried to walk a mile in her shoes,
fit my toes harder to feel her pride.
I wasn't ready for what I've found.
A wounded soul, a bleeding heart.

I tried to walk gorgeously in her shoes.
And feel ashamed to witness those bruises.
She concealed underneath her clothes,
A misery of being abused and used.

Along the road she speaks softly,
Then her tears started to fall.
A courage she used to grasp,
to tell a story never been told.

At the end of our journey I came to know,
this pair of shoes I tried to own,
was broken once in empty room.
No hands to care, no one gives hope.

I gave my best to polish once more,
give it a glance like 'twas before.
Although it's hard and takes some time.
Soon each piece will be formed.

Now, I see an image of a woman.
Standing glamorously in her shoes.
With pride and honor she firmly holds,
A new beginning, miles to walk.

There is something I remember about Him Jesus always seemed to be so trim Reminded me of kind kid or a calm calf And when walking was with a long staff. Never had to come up with perfect excuse And no one did Jesus try to abuse Save us from sin would never hesitate In the end, knew what was our final fate. Jesus second coming soon should occur After so much sin we still had to endure We were belligerent and misbehaving But still ended up being worth saving. I do have enough room. Jim Horn

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Frost. You motivated me to go back and read it again with the splendid one you just wrote without any errors at all. This is a modernized classical poem. I do notice how things are often in Spanish grammatical order which I found in your other poem. jthorn5656

Well this poem is a masterpiece. I can feel the pain in each line. A powerful poem, about everyone's pain is different and most can sympathize, but very few can empathize. A very powerful write Aiyah, you remind me of a Sylvia Plath or an Anne Sexton. I love your writing. Very nice write Aiyah.... Chris.... xoxo :)

A very beautiful poem - to walk a mile in her shoes. Through out the years many women have been used and abused, some are able to leave. Some never do, We know nothing about their lives unless we have walked a mile in their shoes. Great poem... Lucilla

Abuse, pure disease. Time does heel, with hard work, and determination. Look who provails in the end, one strong stand up woman, I repeat, one strong woman, who will NEVER let that happen again!

Very nice. I just hope you never had to suffer similar abuse, and if you did, that someone carried you instead of making you walk.
