Waiting For the Phone To Ring

lost somewhere in the states
lost so much
i ache
i break for you
my brother
who is far worse off than i
i wonder why
plagued by family
friends
betrayed by self
and now missing
far away
i hope to god you're okay
i hope you call
we used to do it all
together
piggy back rides on
grandma's farm
spraypainting the neighbor's fence
jumping off the roof in dresses
when we were little
to escape dad's beatings
funny how
now until today
i wasn't too sad
i miss you brother
hope you're okay
hope you share
this hurt with me someday
