Waiting for Snow

There’s something appealing
To waiting for snow,
Though Nature’s concealing
Just how it will go.

The weather predictions
State how much will fall,
But sometimes convictions
Won’t pan out at all.

The markets are crowded
With folks filling carts
As skies grow more clouded
Before it all starts.

As children may gather
Their boots and their sleds,
The grown-ups would rather
Stay snug in their beds.

Yet now we’re just waiting
To see that first flake,
For anticipating
Might be a mistake.

It’s unifying in a benign way, in contrast to contentioushappenings.

it happy never to see snow for real lol our little island can grind to a halt. i recall in 2012 my hubby having to sleep at work for 2 days , he was on call and had the company 4 x 4 vehicle, so he could get the radio presenters up the steep hill and have someone on air to keep the listeners informed what was going on. hugs jan xx
